Hello and Welcome!
When we think of quilts, we no longer just visualize the traditional patchwork quilt adorning a bed, or the contemporary art quilt enlivening a wall. Over the years, our favorite fabrics and quilt designs have also beautified and personalized our floors. The use of clear protective sealants makes it possible for us to walk on such fabrics without any worry of wear-n-tear. These durable, walkable works of fabric art are known as floorquilts (floor quilts).
This "Sampler" floorquilt, made with beautiful cotton fabrics, was easily constructed with no sewing involved. I never worry of the fabric getting soiled. These walkable works of fabric art look especially nice in sewing and craft areas, and at bedsides, under sinks and doorways--anywhere there is a hard flat surface, such as hardwood, vinyl, cement, and close-fitting tile.
"Saquaro Sunset" (24" x 36"), one of my more realistic designs, was made using 100% cotton fabrics, a 12 ounce cotton duck canvas (primed), a decoupage medium, and a water-based polycrylic finish. This fabric-decoupaged work of art, as well as the other two pieces above ("Camouflage" & "For You"), can also be hung on a wall as durable wall hangings.
No sewing was involved whatsoever.

As a traditional quilt, a beginner would be advised to avoid a design with hexagons, which would require lots of skill, time, and intricate piecing. As a floorquilt, however, this old-time favorite can successfully be mastered in a fraction of the time.
Laying out the fabric shapes to, what I call, "Grandmother's Butterfly Garden," a fun variation to "Grandmother's Flower Garden," a traditional pattern.
With floorquilting, you gain the same satisfaction that comes from making a traditional quilt without ever sewing a single stitch!
