Hello! my name is Carolyn French, and I am a textile artist who loves to create unique works of art, bringing joy, vibrancy, and personality to everyday life. Floorquilts (fabric decoupaged floorcloths), I feel, are certainly unique, vibrant, and personal. Once I started making these walkable works of fabric art, I could not stop. I have fun with floorquilting techniques, and am constantly improving and perfecting this newer and enjoyable craft. My playful use of fabrics frequently portray whimsical images of animals and fauna in a variety of cheerful, sometimes humorous, settings (see photo below).
"Curiosity" was inspired by my curious cat-- "Mip" (I'm holding), and my kissing koi-- "Whiskers."
My workspace is located in the ever-scenic Desert Southwest, in Tucson Arizona, and is surrounded by beauty and inspiration. My inspiration also comes from my love of gardening, birding, and nature--the underling concepts for many of my works. My family, which includes four indoor cats, also rouse my creativity, and have inspired a long list of unique projects. Some of these can be seen at my "Floorquilt Gallery."
My floorquilts can be found beautifying and personalizing floors throughout the country.
Although I enjoy constructing floorquilts for others, it is my hope that whether a person has never sewn, or has years of quilting experience, artist or novice, that he or she find the joy, expressiveness, and sense of accomplishment that comes from making a floorquilt. So feel free to contact me if you have any questions, and don't forget to read my page on frequently asked questions. I especially enjoy talking to others about this fun and engaging craft.

My inspiration...my little co-worker...I think it's something like... "Quality Control."
He must have heard the word: "cotton duck."
I am pleased to announce that I have just finished publishing my first children's book. One of my floorquilts, Saquaro Sunset, can also be found in this fun & wily 40 page book, entitled: The Three Little Bobcats. To find out more, just click on the cover photo below.
